According to an article written by Deadline, it seems to be looking pretty promising that Grey’s Anatomy will be returning for another season! Showrunner, Krista Vernoff is putting together a deal with Trip The Light Productions, which will be a main component in the show coming back for an 18th season.
Of course, there also needs to be contracts signed or resigned with the main cast, but all signs are pointing in the right direction.
This is HUGE! If there is a season 18 that means that Meredith is likely going to wake up from this mess and that we will get to finally see her in the OR again operating. We’ve been as patient as we can be, we know that this season is dedicated to bringing awareness to Covid-19 which is very important. I think we can all say we are ready to see how lives begin to go back to normal, not only just in Grey’s but in real life as well!
Vernoff has gotten some angry and negative comments when she took over being show runner for Grey’s Anatomy. To be fair, Shonda Rhymes set’s impossible standards to live up to. There is nobody who writes like her and no one who compares. Krista is doing a great job, she just has a different approach which didn’t seem to fit with every viewer, but that’s okay! The real fan’s stayed. We have to remember as well, she is writing multiple shows at once.
Dana Walden, the Walt Disney Television Chairman of Entertainment, says “Krista Vernoff is a superstar who makes the almost impossible task of running three shows seem like a reasonable amount of work. I am honestly in awe of her. Everyone at the studio and network is grateful for the tremendous job she’s done on the amazing Shondaland shows, and we are proud to be launching Krista’s first creation, Rebel, on ABC in two weeks. The optimism, intellectual curiosity and quest for social justice embodied in its title character are traits that could easily apply to Krista herself, and those are just a few of the qualities that make us feel lucky to work with her every day.”
She is doing a great job, she has brought back many of our loved ones this season, so let’s all hope for a season 18. We can’t end like this! We need to see Meredith get back in that OR performing some groundbreaking surgeries!
